The "Liqueur du 9° Centenaire" was created in 1984 to commemorate the 900th year of Chartreuse Monks (The founding of the Grande Chartreuse Monastery in 1084).

In 2007, the "Best Crafstmen of France - Sommeliers" contacted the Chartreuse monks in order to create a "masterpiece".
